H IS FOR HEAVEN

In my idea of heaven there are definately clouds made from chocolate fondu with huge chunks of organic strawberries swamped in it. I feel that this would be a great idea because:

* The ever present smell of chocolate and the great big bites of chocolate cloud that people would eat would create the happy hormones and everyone would walk around being nice and positive
* The smell of strawberry juice would remind everyone of summer and almost everyone is more peaceful during summer
* Imagine swimming in chocolate and using giant strawberries as lilos. Is it too good? No it's heaven.
* There can't possibly be wasps in heaven, at least not the kind that can sting, so no evil, many stinging wasps would be attracted by thing gorgeous treat
* People would be a lot less scared of dying if they knew heaven was made of choclate
* People would eat less chcolate while on Earth, therefore less rotted teeth, less clogged arteries

Life of Pi - Yanni Martel Winner of this years Booker Prize

Synopsis

A young boy who's family has owned a zoo for his entire zoo is uprooted and taken on a trip to Canada. On the way the boat carrying him, his family and all the animals of the zoo sinks for an unknown reason. He abandons ship and finds himself alone in a boat with a hyena, an orangutan, a wounded zebra and a Bengal tiger. His attempt at survival begins.

This book thouroughly deserved it's award. It's a wonderful story although like many survival fictions sometimes you need to be in a studous frame of mind to read the parts filled with technical details of survival. Richard Parker is a vicious but original character. The young boy's philosophy, religion and discussion of issues (I especially like the part where he talks about zoos merely being smaller, safer versions of a wild animal's natural territory) are thoughtfully and vividly discussed. The end is brilliant; full of comedy and doubt. I love this book to pieces.

C is for COLOURED ICECUBES

Marie Claire magazine just taught me how to make stripy ice cubes for the summer. It's amazing how when you are completly incapable of doing simple household and food related tasks little things like being able to make stripy icecubes can seem like magic.

In case you're wondering how stripy icecubes are produced you just "pour a thin layer of juice into your icecube tray and freeze". Make sure each layer is completly frozen before you add the next one.

See, that's a recipie I can understand. Sometimes I think I should go around the world collecting these simplistic culinary ideas for women like me who don't want to have to measure and make them into a book. How well do you think a book about how to cinnamon toast or blue cookies would sell? I bet before convenience food it would ahve been a really good idea. I could have gone around the world seeing how Indian women make curry when they have no talent for cooking and how simple you can make a stew but now I guess they just buy it.

Maybe I should plan my life around something more sensible that coloured icecubes.
